Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Fighter Aircrew Physical Conditioning Specialist to join our team and play a crucial role in the Operational Human Weapon System (OHWS) program. Up to 85% of Air Force fighter aircrew have reported spine discomfort during their careers. The OHWS program is designed to address these physical challenges by providing comprehensive injury prevention, pre-habilitation, and human performance optimization services to rated fighter aircrew. As the Fighter Aircrew Physical Conditioning Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering specialized physical training, conditioning, physical therapy, and athletic training to enhance the physical well-being and performance of our fighter aircrew.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a multidisciplinary "pre-habilitative" physical training program tailored to the unique needs of fighter aircrew to prevent injuries and enhance their physical capabilities.
- Coordinate and provide focused strength and conditioning exercises to improve fighter aircrew's physical strength, endurance, and overall fitness.
- Conduct individualized physical therapy sessions to address and alleviate spine discomfort and other musculoskeletal issues reported by fighter aircrew.
- Collaborate with a team of athletic trainers, physical therapists, and other specialists to create a holistic approach to fighter aircrew health and performance optimization.
- Provide consultation and reports, resembling services offered in commercial facilities, to offer insights into aircrew's physical progress and areas for improvement.
- Offer specialized services that cater to the specific needs of fighter aircrew, addressing the demands of their roles and responsibilities.
- Develop and maintain accurate records of each aircrew member's progress, modifications to training plans, and any adjustments to therapy.
- Stay current with industry trends, research, and advancements in physical training, therapy, and human performance optimization, applying relevant findings to the program.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Relevant certifications in strength and conditioning (e.g., CSCS), athletic training, and/or physical therapy.
- Proven experience working with military personnel, athletes, or individuals in physically demanding roles.
- Strong understanding of musculoskeletal anatomy, common injuries, and effective pre-habilitation strategies.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and provide clear instructions to aircrew members.
- Ability to tailor physical training programs to individual needs and adapt as necessary.
- Organizational skills to maintain accurate records and track aircrew members' progress.
- Knowledge of military protocols and practices is a plus.
