Position Title: Licensed Massage Therapist
Location: James Madison Building, Library of Congress, Washington, DC
Job Type: Part-time
Job Summary: The Licensed Massage Therapist will provide therapeutic seated massages to Library of Congress employees in accordance with generally accepted massage techniques. This role involves conducting up to twenty-six (26) 15-minute massage sessions per week, with clients voluntarily seeking services. Massages will be delivered in a private space within the Health Services Division office, and therapists will be responsible for providing their own chair and supplies. All therapists must be licensed in the District of Columbia as massage therapists, maintain CPR certification, and adhere to Library health and safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Perform 15-minute seated massages using accepted therapeutic massage techniques tailored to meet client needs.
- Conduct massage sessions in a private area within the Health Services Division office, ensuring client comfort and confidentiality.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and respect client confidentiality at all times.
- Provide own chair and supplies for massage sessions.
- Adhere to Library health and safety protocols, including sanitation and hygiene practices.
- Maintain accurate records of client appointments, session notes, and financial transactions.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and preferences and adjust massage techniques accordingly.
- Collaborate with Health Services Division staff to coordinate scheduling, rescheduling, and promotion of massage services.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to massage therapy.
Requirements:
- Current licensure as a massage therapist in the District of Columbia.
- CPR certification.
- Proficiency in English language, both oral and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients.
- Professional demeanor and ability to maintain client confidentiality.
- Reliable and punctual attendance.
- Flexibility to accommodate client scheduling preferences.
- Commitment to adhering to Library health and safety protocols.
- Willingness to undergo background checks as required by the Library of Congress.
