- Monday and Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Tuesday through Thursday: Approximately 10:00 or 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 or 7:00 p.m.
Position Summary
LADGOV Corporation is seeking a qualified Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counselor to provide prevention, education, counseling, intervention, and recovery-support services to young adults in a residential education and vocational training environment.
The counselor will conduct substance-use screenings, provide individual and group counseling, support behavioral intervention planning, coordinate referrals, administer testing procedures, and collaborate with healthcare, counseling, education, recreation, and residential staff.
Essential Responsibilities
- Conduct substance-use screenings, assessments, and intake interviews.
- Provide individual and group counseling related to alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use.
- Develop and maintain individualized intervention and support plans.
- Introduce students to appropriate recovery and self-help resources.
- Monitor student progress and adjust intervention strategies when necessary.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers, counselors, instructors, and support staff.
- Help update behavioral agreements and intervention plans.
- Provide referrals to community treatment and counseling resources when appropriate.
- Conduct drug and alcohol testing while maintaining proper chain-of-custody procedures.
- Maintain drug-testing supplies and equipment.
- Maintain accurate, current, and confidential counseling records.
- Prepare required monthly and quarterly activity reports.
- Support tobacco-use prevention and healthy-lifestyle programming.
- Organize and participate in substance-use prevention and educational activities.
- Collaborate with recreation personnel to promote healthy, substance-free leisure activities.
- Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, training sessions, and professional development activities.
- Report safety concerns or significant behavioral incidents through the appropriate supervisory channels.
- Perform all services in accordance with professional ethics, applicable state requirements, and organizational policies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted substance-abuse counseling license or certification that satisfies Montana requirements.
- Education and training sufficient to qualify for the applicable Montana substance-abuse counseling credential.
- Ability to maintain all required professional credentials and liability insurance.
- Knowledge of substance-use assessment, prevention, intervention, counseling, recovery support, and referral practices.
- Knowledge of drug and alcohol testing and chain-of-custody procedures.
- Ability to facilitate individual counseling, group counseling, and educational presentations.
- Ability to work effectively with adolescents and young adults from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, documentation, and case-management skills.
- Ability to protect confidential health and counseling information.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Final client approval is required before beginning work.
