Position: Full-Time
Location: Various locations within the United States, Puerto Rico, and other US territories.
Duties:
- Provide telephonic nursing triage services for cases where the Injured Worker (IW) has immediate time loss and has not returned to work within a specified timeframe.
- Make initial contact attempts to the IW, Employing Agency (EA), and physician within 24 hours of assignment.
- Obtain a history of injury, treatment, and work status.
- Communicate with the treating physician’s office to obtain a treatment plan and provide general information regarding Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP) procedures.
- Enter information into the Disability Management Portal (DMP) and submit closure reports within specified timeframes.
Requirements:
- Hold a current, active unrestricted license to practice nursing within the United States, Puerto Rico, and other US territories.
- Have a minimum of two (2) years adult medical/surgical nursing experience and a minimum of two (2) years case management experience in the workers’ compensation arena OR,
- Have a minimum of one (1) year of adult medical/surgical nursing experience and three (3) years of case management experience in the workers’ compensation arena.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Ability to perform telephonic nursing triage services.
- Knowledge of the OWCP/FECA program preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent experience with the FECA nurse intervention program (within the last 5 years, with good performance and no disciplinary actions).
- Specialized certification in one of the following areas: Occupational Health (COHN), Case Management (CCM), Insurance Rehabilitation (CIRS/CRRN), Disability Management (CDMS), and/or Nurse Case Manager Board Certified (ANCC/ANA).
