Position Summary
Ladgov Corporation is seeking a qualified Catholic Music Director to provide professional music ministry support for Catholic worship services at Maxwell Air Force Base. The selected candidate will direct the Catholic choir, conduct rehearsals, select appropriate liturgical music, and support regular Masses and special Catholic services.
Work Schedule
- Wednesday Choir Rehearsal: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
- Saturday Mass: 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
- Sunday Mass: 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM
- Additional services may include Holy Days, funerals, First Communion, Confirmation, Advent, Lent, and other Catholic activities.
Responsibilities
- Direct weekly choir rehearsals and Catholic Mass music.
- Select music appropriate to the Catholic Liturgical Calendar.
- Conduct choir warm-ups before services.
- Recruit, organize, and train choir members and musicians.
- Coordinate music selections with the Catholic Priest.
- Provide solo or accompanied vocal music when required.
- Set up and maintain microphones, music stands, risers, and related equipment.
- Operate the chapel sound system as needed.
- Support special services, funerals, and other approved Catholic events.
- Provide a qualified substitute when unavailable.
- Submit required monthly activity reports and participate in scheduled Catholic Pastoral Council meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience directing choirs for Catholic Masses.
- Knowledge of Catholic liturgy, hymns, and seasonal worship music.
- Ability to direct different styles of Catholic music.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Ability to pass required background screening and obtain Maxwell AFB access.
- Reliable transportation and availability for the required schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Catholic cantor or instrumentalist.
- Ability to play an instrument while directing a choir.
- Ability to sight-read music and accompany vocalists.
- Bachelor's degree in Music, Catholic Liturgy, Religious Studies, or a related field.
- Previous military chapel or Catholic ministry experience.
