Job Overview:

The Security Camera Maintenance Technician at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System (VNIHCS) plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and functionality of security camera systems throughout the facility. The Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of security cameras and related equipment. This position requires a keen attention to detail, technical proficiency, and a commitment to maintaining a secure and safe environment for veterans, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure security camera systems according to established guidelines and specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections of security cameras to identify and address any issues promptly.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the camera systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues with security cameras and associated equipment.
  • Execute timely and effective repairs to restore functionality.
  • Keep security camera software and firmware up-to-date to address security vulnerabilities and enhance system performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of all security camera installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Generate reports as needed to track the status and performance of the camera systems.
  • Collaborate with the IT department and other relevant teams to integrate security camera systems with broader security infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to other departments as required.
  • Provide training to security personnel on the proper use and monitoring of security camera systems.
  • Offer technical support and guidance to end-users as needed.
  • Ensure that security camera systems comply with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend system upgrades or enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in electronic security systems is a plus.
  • Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of security camera systems.
  • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills related to security camera hardware and software.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations governing electronic security systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
