Duties:
- Provide audiology support services, including hearing aid education, routine repairs, and troubleshooting for veterans at Superior.
- Take ear mold impressions, coordinate hearing aid orders with vendors, and track shipments to ensure timely delivery.
- Perform otoscopic exams to assess ear conditions and execute cerumen management, referring patients to ENT when necessary.
- Conduct patient education on the proper care, cleaning, and use of hearing aids and other assistive listening devices, ensuring all patient interactions are documented.
- Manage inventory, including hearing aids, batteries, accessories, and ALDs, and ensure that all supplies are available to meet clinic demands.
- Participate in tele-audiology services, providing support via telephone, secure messaging, and video-telehealth.
- Collaborate with audiologists to deliver high-quality patient care and assist with in-patient support when necessary.
Requirements:
- Certified or credentialed by the National Board for Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences (NBC-HIS) preferred.
- Proficient in hearing aid troubleshooting, repairs, and patient education.
- Ability to conduct cerumen management using suction techniques and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage inventory and coordinate with vendors.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems, particularly CPRS, and familiarity with documentation and coding procedures.
- Must maintain valid certification for Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Preferably with experience in a military or VA healthcare setting, understanding the specific needs of veterans.
