Duties:
Patrol the Mare Island facility, including piers, historic ships, and buildings, ensuring the safety and security of park assets, staff, and visitors.
Conduct inspections of ships, bilges, moorings, and dock lines, maintaining awareness of maritime operations and safety procedures.
Enforce access control by monitoring and securing entrances, ensuring unauthorized personnel do not enter restricted areas.
Respond to security incidents such as unauthorized docking, intrusions, and emergencies by following established NPS protocols and notifying appropriate authorities.
Operate NPS-issued two-way radios, ensuring continuous communication with park personnel and responding to emergencies as necessary.
Document all patrols, incidents, and observations in detailed shift reports and logbooks.
Assist with the safety and coordination of public events and education programs on board historic ships and park facilities.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of two years of experience in security, maritime, or facility protection.
Must be 18 years of age or older and legally authorized to work in the United States.
Ability to patrol maritime environments, including working on piers, gangways, and ship decks.
Strong observational skills with the ability to identify and address security risks.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with NPS staff, visitors, and law enforcement personnel.
Physical fitness to perform duties, including patrolling on foot, climbing ladders, and responding to emergency situations.
