Location: Western human Nutrition Center in Davis, CA
Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
Knowledge of relevant nursing care
Friendly and professional bedside manner
CNA Certification
Experience in a leadership or management role is often required, such as charge nurse, nurse supervisor, or assistant nurse manager.
Duties:
Monitor and chart notes on subjects' health problems using a narrative format.
Provide support and guidance to nursing staff throughout the day, including assisting with complex patient cases, troubleshooting clinical issues, and providing clinical expertise as needed.
Coordinate staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and address any staffing issues or concerns.
Collect and record subjects' vital signs and chart collected research data into subjects' permanent medical records
Ensure that patient care is being delivered according to standards and to address any issues that arise.
Maintain logbooks for transmission to PI or for other staff instructions between shifts, or for recording study protocol deviations and errors.
Supervise subjects' consumption of water, meals, and snacks
Supervise recreational and social activities for resident subjects, and escort subjects to off-site outings while safely operating Government vehicles.
Outside activities with the study subjects such as daily walks, developing new activities, planning activities pertinent to the age and sex of subjects, and monitoring subjects during activities.
Prevent the introduction of contraband items into the research environment by performing routine room inspections.
Remove contaminated waste from the MRU and wipe down surfaces to prepare equipment for special procedures.
