We are hiring a reliable and experienced Cleaning Operative to provide part-time custodial services at the U.S. Consulate General in Edinburgh. The selected individual will be responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and hygienic conditions throughout the facility on a daily basis.

We are hiring a reliable and experienced Cleaning Operative to provide part-time custodial services at the U.S. Consulate General in Edinburgh. The selected individual will be responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and hygienic conditions throughout the facility on a daily basis.
- Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, kitchens, and entrance areas
- Mop floors, vacuum carpets, dust surfaces, and clean internal windows
- Disinfect restrooms and deodorize as needed
- Clean kitchen appliances (e.g., fridges, cookers)
- Remove trash and recyclables to designated collection areas
- Perform occasional exterior/front entrance cleaning
- Support occasional deep-cleaning tasks or special event cleanups
- Prior commercial or institutional cleaning experience preferred
- Familiarity with cleaning equipment (vacuums, polishers, carpet machines)
- Able to work independently and follow cleaning schedules
- Physically able to perform cleaning tasks (bending, lifting, standing)
- Must complete a security vetting form (OVQ) within 30 days of hire
- Must pass a background check to be cleared for work at the U.S. Consulate
- Must provide and wear appropriate PPE (e.g., gloves, mask, protective clothing)
- Willing to undergo basic health and safety training, including bloodborne pathogen awareness.
