Schedule: Sunday through Thursday, in accordance with the established meal service schedule:

• Breakfast: 7:00 AM – 9:30 AM
• Lunch: 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM
• Dinner: 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM

Job Description

The U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced MSG Detachment Cook to provide comprehensive food service support for the Marine Security Guard Residence (MSGR). The selected candidate will be responsible for planning menus, purchasing food supplies, preparing and serving nutritious meals, maintaining kitchen sanitation, and ensuring all food service operations comply with applicable food safety regulations and U.S. Department of State standards.

Duties

The applicant should:

• Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the Marine Security Guard Detachment.
• Develop weekly and monthly menus that provide nutritious, balanced, and varied meals.
• Purchase food and kitchen supplies on a bi-weekly or as-needed basis while coordinating with the Marine Mess NCO.
• Prepare high-quality meals using fresh ingredients while maintaining portion control and consistency.
• Maintain inventory of food supplies and recommend replenishment when needed.
• Store, handle, and prepare food in accordance with recognized food safety and sanitation standards.
• Clean and sanitize the kitchen, food preparation areas, dining areas, cooking equipment, utensils, and appliances after each meal.
• Maintain Government-furnished kitchen equipment in good working condition and report maintenance issues.
• Maintain records related to food service operations as required.
• Comply with all Department of State regulations, local health requirements, and security procedures while working within the Marine Security Guard Residence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional cooking experience in a restaurant, hotel, institutional kitchen, military dining facility, or similar environment.
• Demonstrated experience in menu planning, food purchasing, inventory management, and meal preparation.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, HACCP principles, and commercial kitchen operations.
• Ability to prepare nutritious meals for multiple personnel while maintaining consistent quality.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must possess all licenses and permits required under Malaysian law to perform food service operations.
• Must successfully complete the required U.S. Embassy background investigation and security screening before beginning work.
