Must have experience directing ceremonial or military-style bands.
Knowledge of military protocol and ceremonial music requirements is essential.
Proven ability to work with diverse groups including Active-Duty members, students, and civilian volunteers.
Minimum of five years of experience as a band director/leader.
A bachelor’s degree in music from an accredited institution is preferred.
Must be proficient in reading and arranging music suitable for various skill levels.
Duties:
Lead the TRACEN Yorktown Ceremonial Band during all required ceremonies including Change of Commands, memorial ceremonies, retirements, and local community events.
Conduct two one-hour rehearsals per week and additional rehearsals as needed for special events.
Schedule and prepare the band for performances, ensuring musical selections are appropriate and reflect the decorum of military events.
Coordinate with TRACEN event planners to align musical performances with the ceremonial needs of the Training Center.
Oversee the setup and teardown of musical equipment for rehearsals and performances.
Maintain and manage the inventory of musical instruments and equipment.
Collaborate with the permanent party Band Liaison to recruit new band members and ensure long-term sustainability of the band.
Provide monthly performance reports detailing rehearsals, performances, and any issues or improvements.
