Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church, verified by a letter from a current or previous pastor.
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or related field preferred (Associate’s degree or equivalent certification acceptable).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Roman Catholic RE Coordinator or 5 years teaching in a Catholic Religious Education program.
- AMS Catechist Certification (or willingness to begin certification process within 30 days of hire).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills.
- Ability to work in a diverse and ecumenical environment.
Duties:
- Oversee and coordinate the Roman Catholic Religious Education (RE) Program for grades K–12.
- Plan and conduct sacramental preparation for First Holy Communion, First Reconciliation, and Confirmation, including workshops, retreats, and parent sessions.
- Recruit, train, and supervise catechists, aides, and volunteers; maintain volunteer records and track hours.
- Develop and maintain a 9-month calendar of events and submit periodic status reports.
- Prepare and manage the RE program budget in coordination with the Roman Catholic Chaplain.
- Maintain accurate registration, attendance, and sacramental records.
- Ensure all RE classes, teaching materials, and activities align with the teachings of the Catholic Church and Archdiocese for Military Services (AMS) guidelines.
- Open and secure facilities for RE classes, ensuring cleanliness and safety of spaces used.
- Coordinate sacramental celebrations and submit required records to the AMS Portal.
- Attend staff meetings, Roman Catholic Advisory Council (CAC) meetings, and other required events.
- Provide pastoral support by responding to inquiries, assisting with program publicity, and facilitating communication with families.
- Support special events, retreats, and liturgical services as needed.
- Collaborate with the Wing Chaplain, Catholic Chaplain, and other RE Coordinators to ensure program success.
Work Schedule:
- Sundays: Conduct RE classes (September–June), excluding holidays and spring breaks.
- Office Hours: Minimum of 5 hours per week, Monday–Thursday.
- Flexible Hours: Additional 5 hours per week for training, preparation, and volunteer coordination.
- Monthly: Attend Roman Catholic Advisory Council (CAC) meetings (2 hours).
- Occasional: Attend workshops, staff meetings, and liturgical events as directed by the Roman Catholic Chaplain.
