Background: The role involves conducting annual quality assurance testing for radiology and dental equipment across South Texas Veteran Health Care System (STVHCS) facilities, including off-site clinics in San Antonio and Kerrville.
Job Title: Diagnostic Medical Physicist.
Location: Kerrville VA Medical Center, Texas 78028.
Schedule: 6:00 am to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday.
Qualifications:
  • Hold a master’s degree or higher in Medical Physics, Health Physics or a related field.
  • Hold current Board Certification by the American Board of Radiology or American Board of Medical Physics.
  • Licensed by the State of Texas as a Professional Medical Physicist.
  • Licensed with up-to-date documentation of MQSA qualifications.
Duties:
  • Annual review of overall Imaging Quality Assurance program for diagnostic imaging equipment.
  • Keep track and schedule Annual Equipment Performance Evaluations.
  • Recertification of imaging equipment prior to first patient use when required due to repairs or modification that may affect the radiation output or image quality.
  • Documenting the testing process, summarizing methodologies, instruments utilized, measurements taken, and any identified deficiencies for all diagnostic x-ray and imaging equipment.
  • Annual quality assurance testing of mammography review workstation and or attached printer.
