Type of job:  Part-time position

Schedule: The Medical Translation services are to be performed in the MTF Mo – Fr 0800 – 1200

Responsibilities:

  1. Translation of Medical Documents:

    • Translate medical documents, including patient records, prescriptions, and instructional materials, ensuring accuracy and maintaining confidentiality.
  2. Interpretation Services:

    • Provide on-site or remote interpretation services during medical appointments, ensuring clear communication between healthcare providers and patients.
  3. Cultural Sensitivity:

    • Demonstrate a deep understanding of cultural nuances to convey medical information in a sensitive and comprehensible manner, fostering trust and rapport.
  4. Collaboration with Healthcare Teams:

    • Collaborate with medical professionals, nurses, and administrative staff to support seamless communication in a multicultural healthcare environment.
  5. Patient Advocacy:

    • Serve as an advocate for patients with limited English proficiency, ensuring their understanding of medical procedures, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
  6. Continued Professional Development:

    • Stay updated on medical advancements and changes in healthcare terminology to maintain a high level of accuracy in translations and interpretations.
  7. Compliance with Regulations:

    • Adhere to all relevant healthcare regulations and standards, including patient confidentiality and privacy laws.
  8. Quality Assurance:

    • Conduct self-reviews and participate in quality assurance processes to enhance the precision and effectiveness of translation and interpretation services.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English and German, with a strong emphasis on medical terminology in both languages.
  • Proven experience as a Medical Translator or in a related healthcare language services role.
  • Understanding of healthcare procedures, terminology, and cultural nuances.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team.
  • Certification or formal training in medical translation or interpretation is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
