Requirements
- Advanced degree or equivalent professional qualifications in linguistics, language teaching, or related field.
- Training background consistent with U.S.-based pedagogical standards (e.g., Foreign Service Institute, Defense Language Institute).
- Demonstrated experience teaching French, Arabic MSA, and Darija to non-native speakers.
- Experience designing and delivering group and individual lessons.
- Proven ability to conduct oral and written language proficiency assessments.
- Strong command of speaking, listening, and reading instruction methods.
- Ability to prepare instructional materials (texts, handouts, tests, audio-visuals).
- Capacity to counsel students on progress and recommend corrective or supplementary actions
- Deliver a minimum of 2 hours of instruction per student per week, in 60-minute sessions, for both group and individual classes.
- Develop and implement lessons covering speaking, listening, and reading skills, tailored to student levels and professional needs.
- Incorporate job-relevant terminology and situational vocabulary to prepare students for daily use and professional interactions.
- Conduct structured oral recognition and response modules, ensuring students achieve at least 90% proficiency on selected vocabulary in oral tests.
- Deliver reading comprehension modules, enabling students to comprehend and respond correctly to 90% of written communications.
- Provide biweekly progress reports and training recommendations for each student.
- Offer student counseling, especially for those at risk of failing proficiency requirements, and implement remedial strategies.
- Administer and document standardized oral and written tests in coordination with the Post Language Officer.
- Provide substitute instructors when required, with a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice (except emergencies).
- Supply additional classroom resources (e.g., newspapers, magazines, dictionaries) in target languages.
