Music Director

Job Title: Music Director

Location: Langley, VA

Duties:

• The applicant shall perform for all regularly scheduled Gospel Services, choir rehearsals, and special services as determined by the Wing Chaplain.
• The applicant shall coordinate with other service music directors, musicians, and chaplains as necessary.
• The applicant shall work closely with other choir directors, musicians, and chaplains to maintain an up to date music library.
• The applicant prepare/conduct rehearsals for instrumentalists and singers for each service.
• Shall lead congregational and choral singing and provide instrumental accompaniment for all Gospel services and special services as determined by the Wing Chaplain.
• The applicant shall demonstrate integrity through a moral, upright lifestyle consistent with Christian church teachings.

Qualifications:

• Must be able to play and lead music from various Christian traditions including traditional, contemporary, and praise and worship.
• Must have the ability to perform in front of groups of any size.
• The ability to read music and lead a choir and congregation, while providing accompaniment on piano or organ/keyboard.

Education/Experience:

• Must provide a resume that includes a minimum of five years’ experience playing the piano and organ or keyboard.
• Must provide a letter of recommendation from an ordained clergy person and two additional letters or recommendation attesting to the applicant’s Christian character.
• Must have a minimum of two years’ experience directing church choirs in traditional hymns, Gospel, and current contemporary Christian music.
