Job Description
Ladgov Corporation is seeking a qualified Director of Music/Accompanist (DMA) to support the Command Religious Program at NAS JRB New Orleans. The selected candidate will provide professional piano accompaniment and musical leadership for both Roman Catholic and Protestant worship services, weekly rehearsals, special religious services, choirs, vocalists, and volunteer musicians. The DMA will work closely with the Command Chaplain and other chapel personnel to provide appropriate sacred music and maintain continuity of worship support.
Responsibilities
- Provide piano accompaniment for Catholic and Protestant worship services.
- Lead and rehearse volunteer musicians, choir members, vocalists, and instrumentalists.
- Sight-read Catholic, Protestant, and contemporary worship music.
- Coordinate hymns, choral selections, and other music with the officiating Chaplain or religious ministry provider.
- Provide musical support for preludes, congregational singing, offertories, postludes, and other portions of worship services.
- Assist with planning and administration of the chapel music program.
- Submit music information for worship bulletins and assist with requests for musical supplies, scores, and equipment.
- Notify chapel staff when Government-owned musical instruments or equipment require repair.
- Maintain professional conduct, appearance, and communication with chapel staff, military personnel, and parishioners.
- Provide a pre-approved qualified substitute when unavailable, at no additional cost to the Government.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Music or a related field from an accredited institution plus two years of specialized religious music experience, or qualifying specialized experience in lieu of the degree.
- At least two years of experience with liturgical ministries.
- Strong piano/keyboard and vocal music skills.
- Ability to sight-read music proficiently.
- Experience directing choirs, musicians, and vocalists.
- Ability to support both Catholic and Protestant worship traditions.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Ability to pass required background and base-access screening.
Work Schedule
Typical Sunday schedule:
- 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM: Catholic rehearsal/setup
- 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Catholic service
- 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Protestant rehearsal/setup
- 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Protestant service
