Position Overview

seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Janitor to provide cleaning and sanitation services for federally controlled facilities at the Palouse Ranger District. The selected individual will support daily and scheduled janitorial operations to maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment for government personnel and visitors.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Janitor will be responsible for performing cleaning and custodial services including, but not limited to:

• Cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, sinks, toilets, showers, mirrors, countertops, and fixtures
• Vacuuming carpets, floor mats, hallways, offices, and common areas
• Sweeping and mopping linoleum and hard-surface floors
• Emptying trash and replacing liners in waste containers
• Cleaning doors, windows, blinds, walls, wood paneling, vents, and baseboards
• Steam cleaning carpets and cleaning interior/exterior windows during scheduled deep-cleaning periods
• Maintaining kitchens, break areas, refrigerators, microwaves, and other shared spaces
• Reporting maintenance issues, damages, or safety concerns to management
• Completing inspection checklists and maintaining cleaning records
• Following safety procedures and proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment

Qualifications

• Prior janitorial or custodial experience preferred
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to lift, carry, and move cleaning equipment and supplies
• Strong attention to detail and reliability
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Must maintain a professional appearance and conduct
• Ability to pass federal background/security requirements if required
• Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and disinfecting procedures preferred
