Position Summary
The Welding Instructor provides hands-on vocational training to students ages 16–24 at the Pine Knot Job Corps Center. The instructor delivers structured welding instruction, prepares students for industry certifications, ensures safe shop operations, and supports the center’s mission of developing job-ready skills.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver welding training in accordance with Job Corps curriculum and USDA Forest Service expectations.
Provide classroom instruction, practical demonstrations, and supervised shop practice.
Maintain a clean, safe, and OSHA-compliant welding environment.
Assess student skills, track progress, and prepare reports as required.
Prepare students for entry-level welding employment and certification testing.
Maintain government-furnished tools, equipment, and materials properly.
Support center policies, student conduct expectations, and vocational readiness goals.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience as a welder and/or welding instructor.
Ability to teach multiple welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW).
Knowledge of safety standards related to welding, cutting, and shop operations.
Strong communication and mentoring skills for working with young adults.
