Position Title: Material Handler

Job Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Location: Bolling JBA Commissary, 185 Chappie James Boulevard, Washington, DC 20032
Reports To: Material Handler Lead

Position Summary:

The Material Handler performs essential receiving and storage tasks within the RSHA, including unloading deliveries, sorting goods, organizing stock by temperature zone, and preparing items for stocking. The role ensures compliance with commissary inventory rotation and safety practices.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
Basic knowledge of warehousing or logistics operations.
Ability to work in temperature-controlled storage areas (refrigerated/freezer).
Must pass background check and obtain base access.
Basic English language skills (speaking and reading).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Unload merchandise from vendor trucks and check against manifests.
Sort and organize inventory in assigned RSHA locations.
Rotate products using FIFO and expiration-date standards.
Maintain organization and sanitation of RSHA storage areas.
Assist with staging items for stocking crews per daily stocking plans.
Notify Lead or Store Director of infested, damaged, or expired goods.
Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for any hazardous chemicals used.
Support RSHA cleaning and pest control alert protocols.
