Job Title:  Security Guard

Location:  3333 North Central Phoenix, Arizona 85012

Duties:

• Observation: Observe all personnel entering facility when suspected of carrying weapons, showing hostility, or being unauthorized personnel (e.g., children unaccompanied by adults or solicitors).
• X-ray and Magnetometer: Security Guard will be trained by the contractor on the operation and use of an x-ray machine and magnetometer before starting work at the RO. They will be trained on the operation of the equipment and procedures for detecting unauthorized items. Guards will ensure all visitors and employees are checked.
• Screening: Operate and enforce a personnel identification system, recognizing that certain areas are restricted to only certain employees.
• Inspections: Perform package inspection when required.
• Law and order: Maintain law and order within all assigned areas.
• Unauthorized access: Discover and report to VA Police any persons attempting to gain unauthorized access to the property security and fire systems: Monitor building fire and intrusion detection systems and other protection devices or building equipment.
• Monitor surveillance cameras where installed.

Qualification:

• Possess a high school diploma or equivalency.
• Must have a background with a minimum of two (2) years of successful experience demonstrating the ability to:

1. 1. 1. Meet and deal successfully with the public.
      2. Maintain poise and self-control under stress.
      3. Conduct "Stop & Question" of persons found in closed areas, halls, locked areas, parking lots, or VA property to ensure no criminal activity has occurred.
      4. Be trained by the contractor on the operation to utilize government furnished magnetometer, x-ray equipment, and security camera equipment in enforcing security.
      5. Use, word processor, and or computer terminal to complete reports and correspondences.
      6. Should not have any criminal record, which is unacceptable for security enforcement personnel.
