Job Title: Catholic Pianist

Location: USAG Yongsan-Casey

Duties:

• Provide Piano Music for the Weekly Services. Candidate shall provide musical accompaniment on the piano during the weekly worship services to include preludes, postludes, offertories, congregational hymns, and other music as selected during the worship hour; music performed by the choir, and soloists as coordinated by the choir director to include “warm-ups” of fifteen minutes or less prior to the service.
• Provide Piano Music for Choir / Praise Team Rehearsals. As scheduled by the choir director or Pastor of the service. Candidate shall support the choir by musical accompaniment for regular worship services and special services. This includes meeting with the choir in coordination with the choir director to practice and familiarize oneself with the selected pieces and performing the cantatas during the designated service.
• Provide Piano Music for Special Services. Candidate shall provide musical accompaniment on the piano/organ during special services for memorials and funerals, to include preludes, postludes, offertories, congregational hymns, and other music as selected during the worship hour; music performed by the choir, and soloists as coordinated by the choir director to include “warm-ups” of fifteen minutes or less prior to the service.
• Provide Piano Music Special Service Rehearsals. Candidate shall initiate, plan, coordinate and conduct rehearsals for memorials and funerals, at a minimum of one hour with in the week before the day of the special service. Warm-up prior on the day of the event prior to the service is not a rehearsal.
• The candidate service requirements are summarized into performance objectives that relate directly to mission essential items. The performance threshold briefly describes the minimum acceptable levels of service required for each requirement. These thresholds are critical to mission success.
• Candidate Shall:
  • Provide piano accompaniment for Weekly Sunday Worship Services. 52 Units (1 Unit equals app. 2 hours)
  • Provide piano accompaniment for Weekly Choir Rehearsals. 52 Units (1 Unit equals app. 2 hours)
  • Provide piano accompaniment for Special/Seasonal Services or Events. 10 Units (1 Unit equals app. 2 hours)
  • Provide piano accompaniment for Special/Seasonal or Events Rehearsals. 10 Units (1 Unit equals app. 2 hours)

Education & Certifications:

• Completion of a minimum of two (2) years studies/formal training as an Undergraduate Piano Performance Major.

Qualifications & Training:

• Shall have at least two (2) years of experience in pianist service within the last five (5) years.
• Must be able to sight read musical notes of hymns/music in the Armed Forces Hymnal and Hymnal utilized by assigned chapel and lead four part harmony.
• Must be able to communicate in English.
• Shall present a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times during the performance of this contract.
• Shall be interviewed, auditioned, and accepted by the Senior Chaplain for this service, and approved by the Chaplaincy Resource Manager prior to signing the contract.
