Position Title: Hood Cleaning Technician

Location: Fresno VA Medical Center, Fresno, CA
Job Type: Part-Time / On-Call (Monthly and Quarterly After-Hours Services)

Job Summary

The Hood Cleaning Technician performs detailed cleaning, inspection, and maintenance of commercial kitchen exhaust systems, including hoods, ductwork, and exhaust fans. This position ensures systems are cleaned to bare metal condition and operate safely in accordance with NFPA 96 standards.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience cleaning commercial kitchen exhaust systems
• Familiarity with hood systems, ductwork, and exhaust fan assemblies
• Experience with pressure washing, steam cleaning, and degreasing equipment
• Knowledge of NFPA 96 cleaning standards
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
• OSHA safety training preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform full-system cleaning of exhaust hoods, ducts, and fans
• Remove grease accumulation from all accessible system components
• Clean all surfaces to bare metal condition with no visible residue
• Disassemble and reassemble system components as required
• Operate pressure washing and steam cleaning equipment
• Assist with setup of containment systems to protect surrounding areas
• Identify and report system deficiencies (e.g., damaged components, grease buildup issues)
• Ensure all access panels are properly reinstalled after service
• Support system restart and operational verification
