Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Cook / Food Service Specialist to prepare daily meals for a small group of U.S. Marine personnel residing at a housing compound in Tokyo. The successful candidate will be responsible for meal preparation, food safety, kitchen cleanliness, and maintaining a professional food service environment.

Food ingredients and major kitchen equipment are provided on-site.

Minimum Requirements
The candidate shall have at minimum:
  • Three (3) years of professional cooking or food service experience.
  • Experience preparing a variety of meals in a commercial, institutional, restaurant, hotel, or catering environment.
  • Basic conversational English sufficient to communicate with supervisors and customers.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a clean, organized kitchen.
  • Ability to pass a background screening process.
Duties and Responsibilities
The candidate must:
  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals according to approved menus.
  • Package and label meals for individual consumption.
  • Prepare meals in advance for weekends and holidays when required.
  • Follow food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, dining area, cooking equipment, and utensils.
  • Wash dishes and kitchen equipment used during daily operations.
  • Monitor food inventory and communicate supply needs to management.
  • Accommodate approved dietary restrictions and food allergies.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.
  • Follow all workplace safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with management regarding menu planning and special meal requests.
  • Support occasional special meals or events when scheduled in advance.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry food products and kitchen supplies.
  • Ability to work safely around hot surfaces, cooking equipment, and kitchen tools.
