Protestant Coordinator of Religious Education
Job Title: Protestant Coordinator of Religious Education (PCRE)
Location: Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni (MCASI) Chapel
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and oversee Protestant religious education programs for elementary-age children (K–5)
Lead or supervise weekly Children’s Church services focused on Bible-based teaching and activities
Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise volunteers to support Children’s Church and programs
Coordinate and lead Vacation Bible School (VBS) during summer months
Plan and organize holiday programs, including children’s participation in Christmas and Easter services
Maintain volunteer rosters, student records, and attendance documentation
Coordinate program logistics including facilities, supplies, and scheduling
Prepare and submit reports, promotional materials, and program updates to chapel staff
Ensure all activities comply with chapel policies and safety requirements
Schedule
Approximately 22 hours per week
Weekly Children’s Church:
52 sessions per year (Sundays, ~1 hour each)
Annual programs:
1 Vacation Bible School (3 days, ~3 hours per day, summer)
2 holiday programs (Christmas & Easter)
Qualifications
Minimum of one year of experience in religious education or program coordination
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to teach and lead children in a faith-based environment
Strong organizational and leadership skills
Experience recruiting and managing volunteers
Strong communication skills in English
