Pianist

Location: Carl Vinson VA Medical Center, Dublin, GA

Position: Part-time

Duties:

• Playing at least three (3) selections of randomly selected melodies (taken form the hymnal) prior to the scheduled start of each weekly service.
• Provide piano accompaniment for vocalists and congregational hymns during Sunday worship services.
• Perform a selection of three randomly chosen melodies from the hymnal before the start of each service.
• Accompany monthly communion services, performing music for approximately 10 minutes.
• Play piano during memorial services and other special chapel services as needed.
• Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of each service to prepare and perform pre-service music.
• Participate in an audition process to demonstrate proficiency in reading, understanding, and interpreting sheet music.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in playing the piano, with the ability to read and interpret sheet music.
• Experience accompanying vocalists and playing for worship services.
• Punctuality and reliability in meeting scheduled service times.
• Ability to work closely with the Chaplain and other church staff to select appropriate music for each service.
• Previous experience in a similar role within a religious or worship setting is preferred.
• Must be available to perform during the specified service times, including Sunday mornings and occasional special services.
