Part-Time (20 hours/week).
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 4 hours per day
(Final schedule to be confirmed prior to start).

Position Overview:
We are hiring a reliable and experienced Cleaning Operative to provide part-time custodial services at the U.S. Consulate General in Edinburgh. The selected individual will be responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and hygienic conditions throughout the facility on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, kitchens, and entrance areas
Mop floors, vacuum carpets, dust surfaces, and clean internal windows
Disinfect restrooms and deodorize as needed
Clean kitchen appliances (e.g., fridges, cookers)
Remove trash and recyclables to designated collection areas
Perform occasional exterior/front entrance cleaning
Support occasional deep-cleaning tasks or special event cleanups

Qualifications:

Prior commercial or institutional cleaning experience preferred
Familiarity with cleaning equipment (vacuums, polishers, carpet machines)
Able to work independently and follow cleaning schedules
Physically able to perform cleaning tasks (bending, lifting, standing)

Requirements:

Must complete a security vetting form (OVQ) within 30 days of hire
Must pass a background check to be cleared for work at the U.S. Consulate
Must provide and wear appropriate PPE (e.g., gloves, mask, protective clothing)
Willing to undergo basic health and safety training, including bloodborne pathogen awareness.
