Position Summary

We are seeking a qualified Strength and Conditioning Specialist to support the Optimizing Human Weapon System (OHWS) Program at the Vermont Air National Guard.

The Strength and Conditioning Specialist will design and implement individualized training programs that improve strength, mobility, endurance, flexibility, and overall physical performance for fighter aircrew. The goal is to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries while enhancing operational readiness.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current strength and conditioning certification such as CSCS, CSCCa, NASM, ISSA, or an equivalent credential

  • Current CPR/AED certification

  • Experience conducting strength, mobility, flexibility, and functional movement assessments

  • Experience designing individualized strength and conditioning programs

  • Knowledge of exercise physiology, injury prevention, and human performance

  • Strong communication and documentation skills

  • Ability to maintain confidential participant information

  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to the Vermont Air National Guard installation

Preferred Experience

  • Military or tactical athlete performance programs

  • Collegiate or professional athletic performance

  • Functional movement screening

  • High-performance training environments

Essential Duties

  • Conduct baseline physical performance assessments

  • Develop individualized strength and conditioning programs

  • Instruct proper exercise techniques and equipment use

  • Modify training plans based on injuries, limitations, and progress

  • Monitor participant performance and conditioning levels

  • Support pre-flight preparation and post-flight recovery activities

  • Maintain accurate progress records and reports

  • Educate participants on nutrition, recovery, sleep, and healthy lifestyle practices

  • Maintain a safe and professional training environment

Employment Requirements

Selected candidates must successfully complete all required background screening, installation access requirements, and mandatory training before beginning work.
