Overview: The San Juan VA Medical Center (SJVAMC), part of the VA Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS), is seeking a dedicated and skilled Radiation Oncology Physician to join our dynamic healthcare team. As a Radiation Oncology Physician, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive cancer care to our veteran population, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies and evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop personalized treatment plans for individuals with cancer, incorporating radiation therapy as a primary modality.
  • Administer radiation treatments in accordance with established protocols, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and adherence to safety standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medical oncologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals, to coordinate comprehensive cancer care.
  • Utilize advanced treatment planning systems to create accurate and precise radiation therapy plans tailored to each patient's unique condition.
  • Oversee the delivery of radiation treatments, ensuring compliance with established quality assurance protocols.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in radiation oncology technologies and participate in the implementation of new techniques to enhance patient care.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding the nature of their radiation therapy, expected outcomes, and potential side effects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accreditation and regulatory standards, participating in audits and quality assurance activities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Radiation Oncology.
  • Valid and unrestricted medical license in the state of Puerto Rico.
  • Experience in the field of radiation oncology preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
