Duties:
- The candidate shall provide PAS services consisting of feeding assistance by providing the following services:
- If necessary, let them know what the food is.
- Check the temperature of the food often to make sure it is not too hot or too cold.
- Cut food into small pieces.
- Fill cups only halfway.
- Have all items ready to eat and within reach.
- A bib or napkin can help reduce the mess.
- Reduce excess noise from TV, radio, and/or cell phones.
- Be gentle with forks and spoons.
- Allow 30 to 45 minutes to eat. Do not rush, but feed at a steady pace, alternating between food and drink.
- Remove the utensil from the mouth slowly. If the person clenches down on the utensil, let go and wait for the jaw to relax.
- Give simple instructions such as "Open your mouth", "Chew your food", and "Now swallow".
- Bring a comfortable table and chair or another seating arrangement.
- Supply easy-to-hold eating utensils and aids.
- Throw out all chipped cups and plates to avoid cuts.
- Cleanup and Disposal: After the conclusion of the meal, the candidate shall gently wipe the mouth and hands of the individual with a napkin. The candidate shall also dispose of all paper goods and uneaten food in the local trash receptacle and rinse off any reusable containers or utensils.
- Status Report: The candidate shall prepare a monthly status report that documents the status of candidate effort towards achieving contract objectives, overall project status covering the accomplished activities and development, objectives of efforts, summary results of efforts, identification of major problems or deficiencies with impact, and recommended solutions.
Education and qualifications:
- High school diploma.
- Proven work experience as a caregiver.
- Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
- A PA diploma or certification would be considered an advantage.
