Work Schedule:
- Average of 10 hours per week.

Position Overview: The 27 Special Operations Wing (SOW) Chapel at Cannon Air Force Base (AFB) is seeking a talented and dedicated Catholic Music Director to lead the musical aspects of Catholic Religious Rites and Practices services. This role involves directing a musical performance team, coordinating rehearsals and performances, and providing instrumental, vocal, audio-visual, and technical support for the Catholic Mass and other significant religious events. The Catholic Music Director will play a crucial role in enhancing the spiritual experience of the Cannon AFB Catholic Community through music.
Responsibilities:
Musical Direction: Lead and direct a musical performance team for Catholic Religious Rites and Practices services. Select appropriate musical pieces, rehearse with the team, and ensure a high standard of musical performance during services.
Sunday Mass and Special Services: Organize, prepare, and lead musical performances for the Catholic Mass held every Sunday. Additionally, coordinate music for special occasions including Holy Days of Obligation, Vigil/Anticipated Masses, and other religious services as required.
Publication and Audio-Visual Preparation: Prepare musical publications and audio-visual equipment required for religious services. Ensure that lyrics, sheet music, and audio-visual elements are well-prepared and readily available for use during services.
Volunteer Coordination: Collaborate with volunteers who provide instrumentals, vocals, and technical support for the Cannon Chapel and Catholic Community. Foster a positive and supportive environment for volunteers to contribute effectively.
Virtual Capabilities: Develop and maintain virtual capabilities to conduct religious services in the event of Public Health restrictions or other limitations. Ensure that virtual services provide a meaningful experience for remote participants.
Technical Support: Oversee and manage technical aspects of audio-visual equipment during services. Troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise and ensure seamless integration of music and visuals.
Collaboration: Collaborate with the Chapel team, clergy, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and cohesive approach to delivering impactful religious services.
Qualifications:
- Strong musical background with expertise in Catholic liturgical music.
- Proficiency in vocal and instrumental performance.
- Experience in directing musical ensembles or choirs.
- Familiarity with audio-visual equipment and technical support.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with volunteers and teams.
- Sensitivity to the spiritual and emotional needs of the community.
- Understanding of Catholic liturgical practices and traditions.
