Job Title: Curator
Location: U.S. Navy Seabee Museum, Port Hueneme
CBC Base, CA
Schedule:
  • Working Hours: Monday through Friday, 0745 to 1615.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the U.S. Navy Seabee Museum staff in conducting an inventory of approximately 16,000 artifacts in storage.
  • Ensure proper storage of artifacts, unpack storage boxes, and list items contained within.
  • Photograph each artifact during the unpacking process and repack using industry best practices.
  • Contribute to the museum's digitization efforts, making the collection accessible to the Navy and the public.
  • Perform routine tasks and special assignments, including ongoing training on current and new techniques.
  • Collaborate with museum staff and Navy personnel, handling valuable historical and educational materials with expert care.

Qualifications:
  • Expertise in digital photography, Adobe Photoshop Elements, and Acrobat Professional.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with internal staff, Navy personnel, and museum visitors.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively in a team and independently.
  • Knowledge of current museum collection management standards and digital asset management best practices.
  • Physical ability to walk, climb ladders, stand, bend, stoop, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
