Protestant Musician / Organist
Service Requirement: Sunday 1030 Worship Service (Approx. 15 Units of Service/Hours)
Key Responsibilities:
Provide instrumental music for Sunday 1030 worship services, including:
Preludes and postludes
Congregational hymns
Offertories and anthems
Choral and service music
Coordinate weekly music selections with the Pastor.
Develop, promote, and grow the chapel choral ministry.
Rehearse with choir members and additional musicians.
Integrate and support volunteer instrumentalists and vocalists.
Plan music for special/seasonal services, including:
Ash Wednesday
Good Friday
Provide music and a 15-minute prelude for funerals and memorial services as required.
Recommend maintenance needs for chapel organ and piano.
Provide substitutes when unable to perform.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of current experience as an organist in a military chapel or civilian church.
Basic-level certification from the American Guild of Organists (AGO).
Formal organ training (college-level acceptable).
Demonstrated keyboard proficiency and sight-reading ability.
Ability to harmonize music and accompany choirs and soloists.
Comfortable singing publicly while playing piano/organ.
Familiarity with at least two church music publishing resources.
Appreciation for both traditional and contemporary Protestant worship music.
