Position Overview
Provide telephone switchboard and communication support for a VA Medical Center, ensuring all incoming calls, paging, and emergency communications are handled promptly and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls within 3 rings and route appropriately
- Provide general information and directory assistance
- Operate:
- Telephone switchboard systems
- Overhead paging and radio communication systems
- Handle emergency calls (Code Blue, fire alarms, etc.)
- Dispatch messages and coordinate emergency communications
- Assist with outgoing and long-distance calls
- Maintain accurate logs and records
- Protect patient information in compliance with HIPAA
Qualifications
- Experience in call center, switchboard, or customer service role
- Strong communication and multitasking skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Basic computer and phone system skills
- Healthcare experience (preferred)
