Job Description

Viakorp Corporation is seeking an experienced Cook to provide daily food services for the U.S. Marine Security Guard Residence (MSGR) at the U.S. Embassy in Quito, Ecuador. The successful candidate will prepare nutritious meals for Marine Security Guards while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, sanitation, and kitchen safety in a secure government environment.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

  • Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Friday.
  • Plan, organize, and execute daily meal preparation according to approved menus.
  • Assist with weekly grocery shopping alongside the Mess NCO to identify and obtain food and kitchen supplies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, dining area, cooking equipment, utensils, and appliances after each meal.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards throughout food preparation and storage.
  • Ensure meals are prepared and served on schedule while maintaining consistent quality.
  • Properly store food and monitor inventory to minimize waste.
  • Work closely with the Government Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) regarding meal planning and kitchen operations.
  • Maintain professional conduct and comply with all security requirements while working within the Embassy compound.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of professional cooking experience in a restaurant, hotel, institutional kitchen, military dining facility, or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of healthy, well-balanced meals.
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily kitchen operations.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the required background and security screening for access to U.S. Embassy facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing food services for military, government, institutional, or embassy facilities.
  • Knowledge of international cuisine and meal planning.
  • Experience maintaining inventory and assisting with food procurement.
  • Familiarity with HACCP principles and commercial kitchen operations.
